Images of beautifully organized spaces — the kind you see in magazines and on Pinterest — are
endlessly appealing. No piles of mail. No dirty clothes or dishes. No random clutter of any kind. Ahhh. How peaceful it would be to live in such gracious surroundings.
But my own home always resisted efforts to wrestle it into that kind of shape. Things would look
neater for a while, but before long, our belongings were bursting from the bins, shelves and drawers we'd purchased to contain them. The clutter always came back with a vengeance.
What was the problem? The answer turned out to be the absence of simple systems — processes to deal with all the stuff that comes into our lives. When I realized that, I began to understand what real organization is about — and it's not how your home looks in photographs. It's about how it works for you and your family.
Your home should help you feel productive, creative and comfortable. It should reflect your priorities and support your goals. It should not be a source of frustration or guilt or embarrassment. Simple systems are the key.
The mission of Neat Street Organizing is to share with you what I've learned about getting and staying organized in a way that's positive, non-judgmental and hands-on. Click here to learn more about the services I offer.
